The Twin Sphinxes
These sphinxes once guided Egyptian pharaohs to the Serapeum of Memphis - the centre of the Apis Cult. Lining the processional avenue to an important temple in Saqqara, they witnessed the lavish rituals and celebrations of the ancient Egyptian religious calendar.
